How to find and replace text in PDFs

If you haven’t already installed All-About-PDF you can download it here:

  1. Open All-About-PDF from the Windows Start menu

  2. Click Replace Text

  3. Click the … button and select the file(s) you want to process (wildcards supported such as c:\files\*.pdf)

  4. Click the + to add the text you want to find and replace

    • If you have used regular expression, check the Use Regular Expression… box

  5. Repeat step 4 for all the phrases you would like to replace

    • You may also choose to replace the text with randomly generated characters by following the instructions here.

  6. You can also save this list for future use

  7. Click Process

Your updated PDFs will be saved automatically.

**Tip: you can also use this feature to strike-through or underline text in the PDF document instead or in addition to replacing it.
